Grief Rituals

Community grief ritual

In this predominantly silent moving meditation, we will honor our experiences of loss and explore and embody grief as a doorway into connection. This communal movement-based ritual invokes the Four Paths of Soulful Living and Grieving as a way of transforming our culture's outdated beliefs around grief in isolation, while honoring each person’s process in the most tender and nourishing way.  The four path framework includes opportunities for connecting with strength and resource, authentic expression of the emotions of grief in a safe container, discovering and freeing creative energies and shifts available, and honoring seeds of transformation amidst loss.  As we become witness to our authentic selves, as well as each other, we embody the potential to rediscover connection with lost and renewed parts of ourselves, each other, as well as with the spirit of loved ones who have died.  It is through this connection that we open the door to the threshold that ultimately moves us through grief’s tumultuous terrain into the gentle river of healing.  This experience entails guided meditation, expressive movement/vocalization, creative expression and sharing to integrate our experience in ways that are meaningful to each of us.  No experience is necessary, only a willingness to move, support, express and be curious, together.

Rituals can be created to support all types of grief, varying sized groups, time frames and scenarios.
